Lymphedema
Lymphedema is manageable with the right combination of manual drainage, compression and self-care taught properly rather than handed over on a leaflet.
Also called:Swelling, Lymphatic swelling, Post-surgical swelling
What it feels like
- Persistent swelling in an arm or leg
- Heaviness or tightness in the limb
- Skin that feels firm or indents slowly
- Clothing or jewellery becoming tight on one side
Good lymphedema care is mostly about what you can do between appointments. Our job is to make that genuinely teachable.
How we treat it
Manual Therapy
Skilled hands-on treatment of joints and soft tissue to restore movement and reduce pain, delivered by a licensed physical therapist rather than a machine.
Therapeutic Exercise
A progressive, individually prescribed exercise programme that rebuilds strength, mobility and control so improvements hold after discharge.
Physical Therapy
A full evaluation, a diagnosis you can understand, and a treatment plan built for your body and your goals rather than a generic protocol.
